Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 14 minutes AGO
Bonnie Joann (Kendall) Baca, 91, of Twin Lakes, Idaho, passed away Nov. 2, 2026, at her home in Twin Lakes. Bonnie was born in Rapid City, S.D., and raised in Kellogg, Idaho, where she attended Sunnyside Grade School and graduated from Kellogg High School. Her parents, Morris P. and Goldie Kendall, preceded her in death.
Always giving to others, Bonnie spent her professional life as a registered nurse and was very proud of it; she obtained her nursing degree at Los Angeles Harbor College of Wilmington, Calif., where she served as President of the Student Nurses Association. She spent decades caring for others in Los Angeles and went on to dedicate her life to nursing at the Harbor- UCLA Medical Center, the Kaiser Hospital of Harbor City and the Carson Intercommunity Hospital of Carson City.
Following a marriage to Tom Warren, Bonnie then spent 62 years married to Gilbert “Gil” Baca until his death in 2019. While living in California, Bonnie and Gil became avid USC football fans. Their passion for the Trojans never subsided and continued following their retirement and move to New Mexico in 1989. Living on the golf course in Rio Rancho, N.M., they enjoyed traveling extensively, especially their annual attendance at the USS Franklin reunion. The Franklin was Gil’s last naval assignment in WWII and she and Gil remained close to their “Franklin Family.” Bonnie loved attending her high school reunions, where they hosted many cocktail parties. Above all, Bonnie loved a gin martini and visiting with her many friends.
After Gil’s death, Bonnie moved back to Idaho, reconnecting with school friends and her stepson Joe, which gave her great joy these last four years.
Bonnie is survived by her stepson, Joseph F. Warren, her dear friends, Benita Alexandre, the DeBrine family: Earl, Joanna, Trey, Matt, Jordan and Joseph and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel on Friday, Nov. 13, 2026, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Art Fleming officiating. Interment will follow the service at Riverview Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to Shoshone Pet Rescue, P.O. Box 884, Kellogg, ID 83837.
