Exhibit celebrates the language of color
Bonner County Daily Bee | UPDATED 28 minutes AGO
November in North Idaho is typically grey and cold. The white stuff is working its way down the mountains and the colorful October leaves depart from the trees.
"The Language of Color" exhibition at the Pend Oreille Arts Council Gallery was conceived to offer a reprieve from the grey and step into a world of color.
Artists choose colors that communicate their ideas with the viewer, and each one takes a different approach. With mediums ranging from photography to watercolor, oil painting and more, there is a variety of works to admire in this vivid collection. Each piece is unique in its interpretation of the theme, some representing the natural world and others abstract, imaginative and expressive.
Minimalist and muted palettes have their place, but there is something joyous about vibrant colors. Visitors are invited to step into the colorful world of possibilities shared within this exhibition all month long, with the last day being November 30.
The opening reception is today from 5-7 p.m. at the gallery, 313 N. Second Ave., Sandpoint. The 14 participating artists will be present: Jeanine Asche, Jenni Barry, Judy Baird, Michelle Erny, Al Friesen, Randy Fritz, Daris Judd, Jeff Keenan, Stephen Nelson, Teresa Rancourt, Jan Rust, Eli Sevenich, Alison Barrows-Young and Holly Pennington.
Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
