JoAnne Marie Bailey, 75, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Mountain Valley Cascadia of Kellogg on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026. JoAnne was born on April 2, 1951, in Wallace to parents Wesley and Lois Bailey.
JoAnne grew up in Wallace and attended Wallace High School. She worked in the deli at Excell (Harvest Foods) until her retirement in 2018. She loved making Bigfoot sandwiches for her regular customers and always had a smile to share. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of everyday life, especially time on her porch or around the kitchen table on Burke Road, sipping tea, playing board games with family, and watching the deer, elk, and other wildlife that made her familiar surroundings of home so special.
JoAnne later relocated to Florida, where she lived with her daughter, DeAnne, and her family for six years. She enjoyed visiting the Florida Keys and Disney World and watching the Miami Heat and Florida Panthers. She attended her first NFL game on Christmas Day in 2022, when she accompanied her family to the Green Bay-Miami game.
After six years in Florida, JoAnne returned to the Silver Valley, where she spent her final two years. She enjoyed being back in familiar surroundings and especially looked forward to Nancy (Sissy)'s almost daily visits.
JoAnne had a personality all her own. Those closest to her knew her sassy, spicy side and her own way of doing things. She will be remembered for her personality, the everyday moments shared, and the place she held in the lives of the people she cared about.
JoAnne was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Lois Bailey; brother Gary; sister-in-law Pam Bailey; and longtime companion Marvin Walker.
She is survived by her two daughters, DeAnne Berry (Tom) of Homestead, Fla., and Angela Terzulli (Jeramie) of Hauser; sister Nancy Elliott of Wallace; brothers Dennis Bailey (Kathy) of East Wenatchee, Wash., and Bill Bailey of Post Falls; sister-in-law Roanna Bailey of Silverton; and bonus daughter Gwendolyn Gnaedinger (Jun Salango) of Mountlake Terrace, Wash. She also leaves behind five grandchildren: Ella Terzulli, who is attending Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Ariz.; Annalie Terzulli, who is attending the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala.; Micah Terzulli of Hauser; Conor Berry of Homestead, Fla.; and Erin Berry of Orlando, Fla. Her nieces and nephews include Joel Elliott (Jill Corwin) of Osburn; Jason Elliott of Wallace; Tom Bailey of Cut Bank, Mont.; Eric Bailey of Wardner; and Gretchen (Kyle) Mann of Rose Lake.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
