SANDPOINT — Duende Libre is bringing their award-winning jazz to the community at an upcoming Pend Oreille Arts Council show.
The show will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13, at the Heartwood Center in Sandpoint.
With music that celebrates the connections between global rhythms from Cuba, Brazil and the Mediterranean with the American jazz tradition, Duende Libre plays a euphoric new jazz that honors its historical roots while pushing open the boundaries of the genre.
Core members Alex Chadsey (bandleader and keys), Jeff Busch (percussion) and Farko Domusov (bass), Duende Libre is influenced by the trio’s direct connections with master musicians including Clinton Fearon, Quetzal Flores, Dudley Nesbitt, Dave Hassel, Jesse Bannister, Martha Gonzalez, Chucho Valdes and Carlos Santana.
Duende Libre’s audiences experience sizzling rhythms, grooving basslines, experimental meters and melodic hooks, all aglow with the technical virtuosity earned by decades of devotion to their craft.
“We are pleased to host this exciting jazz trio at the Heartwood Center,” said POAC Executive Director Tone Stolz. “Duende Libre will not only impress jazz afficionados, but music lovers across genres of all ages.”
Tickets are $25 adult or $10 youth, available online at ArtinSandpoint.org, or at the POAC Gallery, 313 N. Second Ave., downtown Sandpoint, by phone at 208-263-6139, or at the box office at the Heartwood Center.
