Sandra Eileen Todd, 78, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 24, 2026, in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Private family services have been held.
Sandy was born on July 5, 1948, in Hastings, Nebraska, to Vale and Helen Kane. She spent her childhood in Lincoln, Nebraska, where she also attended school.
In 1967, she married Jack Wilson in Lincoln, Nebraska, and together they raised their four children in Orange, California. In 1990, Sandy married Larry Todd, beginning another chapter in her life. She spent 15 years as an Avon representative, a career that became part of her life’s journey.
In 2010, fate brought Sandy together with her soulmate, Bill Gaines. The two shared a special love and a wonderful life together. They retired to Sun City, California, where they enjoyed riding their Harley, spending time at Hell’s Kitchen, and selling their handmade items. Their years together brought her many happy memories. After Bill’s passing in 2018, Sandy eventually made her way to North Idaho to be closer to family.
Sandy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved cooking for her family; especially the German recipes passed down from her Mother and Grandmother, baking and decorating cakes, needlepoint, quilting, reading, working on puzzles, and stamping “Where’s George?” dollar bills. Most importantly, Sandy put her heart and soul into creating traditions that she passed onto her children and grandchildren. These hobbies, along with the memories she created and the people she loved, were all part of what made her life uniquely hers.
Sandy leaves behind her four children: Scott (Erica) Wilson of Jacksonville, NC; Matthew Wilson of Lake Forest, CA; Maggie (Scott) Willis of Sagle, ID; and Drucilla Wilson of Desert Hot Springs, CA. She was also blessed with 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory forward.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vale and Helen Kane; her beloved Bill Gaines; and her sister, Barbara Reichwaldt.
Sandy will be remembered by those who loved her, and her memory will live on through the family she raised, the memories she created, and the many chapters of a life that was uniquely her own.
Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint, Idaho, is handling the arrangements. Friends and family are invited to visit Sandy’s online memorial at lakeviewfuneral.com and sign her guest book.
