Bonners Ferry Herald | UPDATED 5 days, 15 hours AGO
In the column “This Week in History” - 100 Years Ago ~ “During the past season a number of experiments have been made on the Kootenai Valley bottom lands which will prove of value to every land owner. One farmer planted 19 acres to seed peas and this fall he harvested over 25 tons, receiving three and one-half cents a pound, or nearly $98 gross returns per acre. It is understood that between 1000 and 1500 acres will be planted to seed peas next spring.”
