Opinion: HD 13 race: Not just a matter of homegrown vs. conveniently here

Dalton Bradford graduated college, found a full-time job, got married and bought a home. His opponent in the race for House District 13 has done none of those things.

The point of this is not to poke fun. It’s to point out that only one candidate has experience with fiscal responsibility and the trappings of adulthood. Only one knows firsthand the financial issues facing Lake County or is qualified to hammer out budgets in Helena.

That candidate is Dalton Bradford, who grew up in Polson, lives in Polson full-time, and did not just show up in Polson in time for a statewide race for representative. Dalton has far more than ties to Polson; he has deep roots in the community and the life of the county.

It’s up to voters to determine who knows us better and understands us better. To ask which candidate goes to the doctor here, gets his car fixed here and pays his property taxes here. Which one is a local coach and constant presence here?

It’s not just a matter of homegrown vs. conveniently here. It’s a question of tested responsibility vs. uncertain reliability. The answer seems obvious: Dalton Bradford is the right man with the right track record to win this race.
