PONDERAY — The 5A Sandpoint High Bulldogs couldn't keep pace with the 6A Lake City Timberwolves on Tuesday in a nonleague game at the Field of Dreams.

Lake City, who clinched home-field advantage in the 6A Inland Empire division tournament with the victory, didn't take long to find the back of the net. Sophomore Lila Moreau scored her first of two goals in the eighth minute, with the second coming in the 60th minute.

Sandpoint struggled to generate offense in the first half but had several quality chances in the second half. One of the Bulldogs' best chances to score was snuffed out by a Timberwolves' defender making a save with her legs after Sandpoint made Lake City's goalkeeper, Savvy Spencer, miss in the box.

The Timberwolves poured on the points, scoring five times in the second half, to clinch the Bulldogs' second straight loss to a 6A school in a row.

Sandpoint fell to 7-6-1 overall with the loss but remained 6-1 in league play. The Bulldogs will close out their regular season with a home league game against Lewiston on Saturday, Oct. 3 at the Field of Dreams at 12 p.m.

With a victory against Lewiston, Sandpoint would claim home field advantage in the 5A Region 1 tournament, which is set to kick off on Wednesday, Oct. 7.
