SPIRIT LAKE — A second-half hat trick from Priest River's senior captain Daryan Haidari lifted the Spartans past the Timberlake Tigers for just the second time in school history Tuesday night.

Senior co-captain Gunnar Petit broke the ice by sending a ball from Haidari into the back of the net to give Priest River a lead they'd never relinquish. Junior Jayden Sams followed Petit's goal with one of his own to give the Spartans a 2-0 lead at halftime in the Intermountain League showdown.

The second half was all Haidari as he earned his second hat trick of the year in dominant fashion. The senior got things started by playing a through ball and out-running two Tiger defenders to punch a ball past Timberlake's goalkeeper, and followed that up with another effort goal that snuck into the bottom left corner to make the game 4-0.

With just over two minutes left, a beautiful cross from Petit was finished off by Haidari to round off his hat trick and a 5-0 Spartan victory. Haidari also added three assists for a nine-point day.

In addition to a clean sheet, Spartans' goalkeeper Ryker Petit totaled 14 saves to help his team move to 3-6 in the season and in league play.

Priest River closed out their regular season with a matchup against Coeur d'Alene Charter on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The game did not finish in time for the Bee's print deadline, so a full recap will appear in the Friday edition of the Daily Bee.
