Sandpoint 7, Lewiston 0

PONDERAY — The Sandpoint Bulldogs delivered a present for their head coach Dan Anderson on his birthday in the form of a 7-0 dominant 5A Inland Empire League win over Lewiston on Thursday.

Sandpoint broke the ice early with Pax Longanecker, once again, finding the back of the net with an easy tap-in goal in the sixth minute. It wasn’t long before Longanecker made his presence felt again as he drove a ball to freshman Will Piehl, who scored just two minutes later to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead.

“We really wanted to focus this game as a dress rehearsal for the beginning of state. The first round of state will be at this field ... and this is our last game here,” Sandpoint assistant coach Jake Rookey said. “It was a really good performance from the start.”

Longanecker continued his hot streak in the 20th minute with a diving goal on a beautiful pass from Adrian Torres. Sandpoint’s Dixon Reed polished off an unassisted goal by rocketing the ball between the legs of the Bengals’ goalie to give the Bulldogs a 4-0 advantage at halftime.

The Bulldogs star junior would later polish off a hat trick in the 41st minute with another ball he narrowly knocked past the Lewiston keeper.

“He’s one of the more aware players on the field, very calm under pressure,” Rookey said of Longanecker. “He just has a nose for the game and for the goal. He's a special player for sure.”

With the game firmly in hand, Sandpoint’s Wesley Drube got in on the fun, scoring twice in the second half to round out the Bulldogs’ 7-0 victory.

The win moves Sandpoint to 10-1-2 overall and undefeated in league play. The Bulldogs will travel to Lewiston on Oct. 3 for another league game at noon before they close out their regular season at home against Lake City at 6:30 p.m.

Coeur d’Alene Charter 10, Priest River 1

POST FALLS — Priest River closed out their short 10-game regular season with a loss to 4A powerhouse Coeur d’Alene Charter on Wednesday afternoon, falling 10-1.

Fittingly, it was the Spartans’ leading goal scorer, senior Daryan Haidari, who punched in the only goal of the game for Priest River. Haidari has been nothing short of a star for the Spartans, scoring 12 goals in just 10 games.

“I am incredibly proud of these boys,” Priest River head coach Charity Hinshaw said. “Throughout this season, they have continued to grow as a team, come together, and learn what it means to support one another both on and off the field.”

Gunnar Petit and Jayden Sams split time between the posts and collected eight saves apiece against the Panthers.

“With each challenge, these boys continue to gain confidence, energy and determination,” Hinshaw said. “Watching their teamwork and growth this season has been something special.”

The loss finalizes the Spartans’ regular-season overall and league record at 3-7, good enough for a fourth-place finish in the Intermountain League. It’s a resoundingly strong effort for a group that did not play in 2025.

Priest River is back in action for the District 1-2 Tournament on Oct. 7. Their opponent and match time will be revealed at a later date.

First half — 1, Charter, Brooks Judd (Taylor Smith), 6:27. 2, Charter, Cooper Hermes (Judd), 15:28. 3, Charter, Jacob Poncato (Judd), 24:01. 4, Charter, Smith (Anthony Haler), 32:38. 5, Charter, Haler (Stefan Pawlik), 37:02. GIRLS

Coeur d’Alene Charter 8, Priest River 0

POST FALLS — The Priest River Spartans were overwhelmed by Coeur d’Alene Charter’s second-half offense on Wednesday as they fell in the Intermountain League match.

The loss concludes the Spartans’ regular season and marks the second straight game that they have been held scoreless. In goal, Aleigha Razo and Jasmine Zylstra were peppered with shots but held their own to the tune of 15 combined saves.

Priest River ends their regular season with a 3-10-1 overall and league record. The Spartans will return for the District 1-2 Tournament next week.
