• COLLEGE FOOTBALL

Whitworth 41, Pacific 6: At Spokane, Logan Lacio threw for 270 yards and four touchdowns for Whitworth (4-1) in a romp over Pacific (0-4) in the Northwest Conference opener for both schools in front of 1,285 at the Pine Bowl.

Owen Harris, a junior from Coeur d’Alene High, had four carries for 26 yards for Whitworth.

Montana Tech 33, Dakota State 21: At Madison, S.D., Jarrett Wilson hit Levi Torgerson for the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter and Andres Thompson scored twice for Montana Tech (5-1) in a Frontier Conference opener against Dakota State (4-2).

College of Idaho 56, Simpson (Calif.) 14: At Caldwell, Rylie Byington ran for 141 yards and four touchdowns for College of Idaho (5-0), which finished with 421 yards rushing in a romp over Simpson (2-3) in the Frontier Conference opener for both at Simplot Stadium.

Rocky Mountain 31, Valley City State 24: At Billings, Mont., Javonte King had 10 catches for 146 yards and three touchdowns for Rocky Mountain (2-3) in a win over Valley City State (1-4) in the Frontier Conference opener for both. 

Jayson Cady, a redshirt freshman from Coeur d’Alene High, had nine tackles, including one for a loss for Rocky Mountain. 

Carroll 73, Arizona Western 0: At Helena, Mont., Kolbe Coey, a redshirt freshman from Coeur d’Alene High, recovered a fumble goal line and returned it for a touchdown for Carroll (4-1) in a Frontier Conference romp of Arizona Western (0-4) at Nelson Stadium.

Tyras Blake, a sophomore linebacker from Post Falls High, had a team-high seven tackles and a sack and sophomore Cooper Craig — also from Post Falls — had four tackles for Arizona Christian. 

Coey finished with four tackles for Carroll.

• COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL

Montana d. Idaho 25-17, 25-20, 28-26: At Missoula, Mont., Kaylee Paulson, a freshman from Coeur d’Alene High, had nine kills for the Grizzlies (5-10, 1-3 Big Sky) in a sweep over the Vandals (9-7, 0-4) in front of 997 at Dahlberg Arena.
