Milton outduels Jensen for boys A golf title

SHELBY — Marias Valley was no match for Max Milton and Colin Jensen Saturday.


The duo both shot in the 60's on both days at the Class A State Golf Tournament, but Milton claimed medalist honors with his second round 67. 


Jensen was lowest on Saturday though as his 66 moved him to 9-under-par for the tournament, two shots behind Milton. 


The Polson junior repeats as champion with an 11-under-par performance. 


Whitefish's Mason O'Neil finished tied for third at 4-over-par with Billings Central's Matthew Hermanson. 


Zack Schmid-Sommer joins O'Neill as an All-State placer with his 14th place finish. 


Polson's Carson Emerson and Soren Lund also take spots in the top-15 to earn All-State honors. 


Billings Central claimed the team championship with a 597 total, five shots ahead of Polson. Whitefish was third at 636. 


The Bulldog girls continued strong after a dominant day one performance to take the team championship by 35 shots over Lewistown at a 710 total. Corvallis beat out Polson for third by eight shots. 


Hamilton's Cameron Burnett claimed the individual championship with a second-round 69. The only sub-70 round on the girls side this weekend. 


Whitefish's Karlee Brown finished second, 10 shots behind Burnett. Rhylee Scott and Jill Wagner made it four Bulldogs in the top 10. 


Sara Dumouchel finished in a tie for six to give Polson an All-State selection. 


Bigfork's Keegan Campbell also earned All-State honors with her 180 total, good enough to tie for 12th.
