Habitat Flathead is building four 3-bedroom townhouses on Whitefish Avenue. Construction has started on the first two and all four homes are expected to be completed by the middle of the summer of 2027.

These townhouses are the first to be constructed for Habitat Flathead’s “Grounded in Whitefish” Campaign – a commitment to build 100 Habitat homes in Whitefish over the next 10 years.

The deadline for applications for these four homes is Oct. 31, 2026. Applicants should check out the eligibility requirements on Habitat’s website: habitatflathead.org/homeownership.

If unsure if you meet the income requirements, send an email to [email protected]  to discuss eligibility.

The homes are 1958, 1966, 1974, and 1982 Whitefish Avenue.

In addition to these four townhouses, Habitat Flathead has asked permission to split the lot further to add a small two-bedroom home on the southern end of the lot. Applications will open for this home when the building permit is provided by the city of Whitefish.

The five homes are available because of the $500,000 contribution from the city of Whitefish to buy the parcels of land, the sellers who offered the land to Habitat Flathead at below-market prices, and the many donors who supported Habitat Flathead during this year’s Great Fish Community Challenge.

Habitat Flathead’s Executive Director, MaryBeth Morand, said the staff and board of the organization are amazed by the generous support of the community during this year’s Great Fish Community Challenge. She said the buy-in from the community, as evidenced by the number of donations and overall amount contributed to Habitat Flathead’s “Grounded in Whitefish” campaign, bodes well for getting the 100 homes built within the decade.

“We are so grateful to our community, and we want everyone to come by the Whitefish Avenue property to see their donations already at work,”
