Sanders County Community Development is launching a free, four-session Grant Writing 101 Workshop Series to help nonprofits, community organizations, local governments, and others throughout Sanders County build stronger grant-writing skills and increase their confidence in seeking funding.

The series will feature workshops in Hot Springs, Plains, Thompson Falls, and the Noxon/Heron area, making the training accessible to communities across the county.

The series kicks off Thursday, Oct. 15, from 6 to 8 p.m at Bearfoot Bakery in Thompson Falls. A fun dessert and refreshments will be offered. A second workshop is planned for November, followed by workshops in March and April. Additional dates and locations will be announced as they are confirmed.

Leading the series will be Marie Hirsch, who recently retired after 15 years of community and economic development work with nonprofit organizations in Western Montana. Earlier in her career, Hirsch prepared annual and quarterly reports for publicly traded companies, providing a strong foundation for her transition into nonprofit work and grant writing.

Throughout the series, Hirsch will share practical tips, tools, and strategies to help participants navigate the grant-writing process. Workshops will focus on building confidence, developing stronger proposals, clearly communicating community needs and project outcomes, and becoming better prepared to pursue increasingly competitive grant opportunities.

The four-workshop format is designed to give participants opportunities to continue developing their skills throughout the year while providing practical information they can put to work immediately for their organizations and communities.

The Grant Writing 101 Workshop Series is part of SCCDC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the capacity of Sanders County nonprofits, community organizations, local governments, and other groups working to improve their communities. Register at sanderscountycdc.com/workshops or call (406) 827-6935.
