SANDPOINT — A proposed 1% local option sales tax will appear on the November ballot for Sandpoint voters.
If approved, 75% of the revenue will be dedicated to street improvements, and the remaining 25% would fund sidewalk and transportation connections improvements.
The proposed tax would apply to taxable sales within the city, excluding occupancy sales identified in the ballot language.
City street projects would cover maintenance, repair, and reconstruction, including related drainage and safety improvements. Transportation improvements would include construction and improvements to sidewalks, pedestrian crossings, bicycle facilities, pathways, and trails.
The tax would remain in effect for 10 years, from Jan. 1, 2027, through Dec. 31, 2036, and 60% of voters need to vote in favor of the tax for it to be approved.
