Mark Gibbons, Montana’s tenth Poet Laureate will speak at the Whitefish Community Library on Oct. 9.
Whitefish Community Library announces two Friday Night Poetry Gatherings. The first, Oct. 9, features Mark Gibbons, Montana’s tenth Poet Laureate who shares from his fourteenth collection of poetry, “Word Salad.”
Whitefish author Antonia Malchik said, “Mark Gibbon’s poetry leads me back from the digital-dominated world to a living, breathing, earthbound self we are all perilously close to losing. I feel more alive and more connected to the world when reading Gibbons’ poems.”
The second gathering, on Oct. 23, features the documentary “Saved by the Beauty of the World,” celebrating the life, work and legacy of Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Mary Oliver.
“We look forward to sharing poetry together and hope to host more of these events in the future,” said Library Director Mary Drew Powers.
Both events are free and open to the public and will take place at 6 p.m. in the library community room. For more information about the poetry gatherings or other upcoming events, visit whitefishlibrary.org or call 406-862-9914.
