On Friday night, teams across the valley faced strong opponents, but they stayed resilient and put points on the board regardless of their challengers.
In 8-Man football, the Arlee Warriors brought in their second-season victory, winning 64-28 against the Charlo Vikings; the St. Ignatius Bulldogs took a tough hit, losing 26-58 to the St. Regis Tigers.
In Class A, Ronan Chiefs suffered a crushing defeat, falling 0-69 to the Columbia Falls Wildcats; and the Polson Pirates took a decisive loss, falling 3-49 to the Libby Loggers.

Democrat incumbent faces St. Ignatius Republican again in HD 15 race
Incumbent Democrat Thedis Crowe of Heart Butte takes on Ralph Foster of St. Ignatius again for Montana’s House District 15 seat. The two faced off in 2024 for the same seat, with Crowe winning by just over 3%. The district straddles the Blackfeet and Flathead reservations, spanning from St. Ignatius to Browning and Heart Butte.
County commissioners discuss ending county collection of irrigation fees
Lake County Commissioners once again considered no longer collecting Flathead Irrigation District fees during a commissioner meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 30, after news broke about another minimum fee increase for small parcels.
