SPIRIT LAKE — The Bonners Ferry Badgers ended their regular season with a draw against the top team in the Intermountain League, the Timberlake Tigers, last Friday.

Bonners Ferry struck first in the opening half when a corner kick ricocheted off a Timberlake defender and into the net, giving the Badgers their lone goal. The Badgers held back the powerful Tigers offense until the 72nd minute when a long shot from the top of the box was arced over Bonners Ferry’s goalkeeper for the equalizer.

With only eight minutes remaining, the Badgers battled their way to a draw with the Tigers. The tie was Bonners Ferry’s first of the season and capped off their regular season record at 10-4-1 and 10-3-1 in the Intermountain League.

The Badgers finished third in their league, pitting them against the No. 6-seed Priest River (3-10-1) in the Intermountain League District Tournament opener on Wednesday.

SPIRIT LAKE — Seniors set the tone in the tone for the Bonners Ferry Badgers as they cruised past Timberlake in their final Intermountain League game last Friday.

The Badgers scored twice in the first half and then rode an offensive explosion of five goals in the second to victory over the Tigers. Four seniors, Aaron Tadlock, Peyton Hinthorn, Riley Beggarly and Maddox Sherraden, scored against Timberlake. Bonners Ferry improved to 8-3-1 overall and 8-2 in league play, the second-best record in the Intermountain League behind rival Coeur d'Alene Charter.

Bonners Ferry 3, St. George’s 1

BONNERS FERRY — A trio of Badger seniors shined en route to a 3-1 win over the reigning state runner-up St. George’s (WA) in a non-league game on Saturday.

Seniors Aaron Tadlock, Riley Beggarly and Ben Middleton all scored a goal apiece to lift their Badgers past the Dragons' second-half rally on senior day. Beggarly got the party started with a goal before Tadlock added a header in the second half to extend the Badgers' advantage. A penalty kick goal from Middleton put the game on ice for Bonners Ferry

The victory lifted Bonners Ferry to 9-3-1 overall.

"I want to give a huge thank you to all of our seniors. Your leadership and love for this program have been felt throughout the entire season," Bonners Ferry head coach Matt Solis said. "You will be missed, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for each of you!"

Bonners Ferry 4, Stillwater Christian 0

KALISPELL — In a rematch from an early-season draw, the Bonners Ferry Badgers flattened the Stillwater Christian Cougars in a non-league matchup on Monday.

The Badgers scored two times in each half, while shutting down the Cougars’ offensive attack. Senior star Aaron Tadlock scored a hat trick and added an assist on fellow senior Riley Beggarly’s lone goal.

Senior goalkeeper Kordale Burt added four saves as he earned another clean sheet. The victory polished off the Bonners Ferry Badgers' regular-season record at 10-3-1 while their league record remained 8-2.

"It was a great feeling, especially after the 0-0 draw against them earlier in the season," Solis said. "Going 3/3 right before districts is an incredible feeling, and I couldn’t be more proud of this group."

The league record was good enough to earn them a bye and the No. 2 seed in the Intermountain League tournament. The Badger boys will open their postseason on Friday at 12:30 p.m. at the Real Life Fields in Post Falls. Bonners Ferry will play the winner of Grangeville and St. Maries, who played on Wednesday afternoon, for a spot in the district championship game.
