The Wolfpack Theatre Company is teaming up with Glacier High School alumni to take on the challenge of writing, directing and performing four to six original short plays within 24 hours.

The clock starts at 3:33 p.m. Oct. 9 and culminates with a 6:33 p.m. performance for the public on Oct. 10 in the Wolfpack Theatre at Glacier.

“Since this is our 20th year, we wanted to do something that celebrated all of our theatre students past and present," company Director Ivanna Fritz said.

Alumni participants include Isaac Schroeder, Ian Wheeler (2014), Zaden Stout (2025), Maeve Kintzler (2023), Erik Kalvig (2023), Alexa Lamers (2016), Andy Wilton (2022), Sierra Riley (2020) and Tea Mergenthaler.

"Some will write from afar, and most will be on site to work with kids,” Fritz said. “It’s not a huge time commitment, and it's a great way for students, staff and alumni to connect or reconnect with the Glacier community. Why not make the most out of 24 hours of your life?”

The intensive process will start with a briefing, followed by actors working through improvisations and auditions. Then, the writers who are each tasked with composing 10-minute original plays will begin selecting cast members.

At 6:30 a.m. the following morning, the directors return to Glacier to read the plays and battle for the script they want to direct. Cast members will meet for the first time at 8 a.m., where they will discover their roles and immediately get to work rehearsing.

With less than 12 hours of rehearsal time and only 20 minutes of technical rehearsal, the entire company will be ready for the audience to arrive for the Oct. 10 premiere performance. Doors open at 6 p.m.

“I first heard about the 24 Hour Play Project many, many years ago when a couple of our graduates told us about the project in New York and in California. It really sounded dynamic, and I love the creative elements,” company staff member Greg Adkins said. “The idea of working on a production with a 24-hour deadline is pretty intense!”

Tickets are $5 at the door. Glacier High School is located at 375 Wolfpack Way, Kalispell.
