Kathy Quinn, 66
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 1 hour, 5 minutes AGO
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the sudden passing of Kathy Quinn of Post Falls, Idaho. She passed away Aug. 27, 2026, in San Diego, Calif.
Kathy was welcomed into the world by her parents, George and Dominga Corden, on July 29, 1960, in San Francisco, Calif., where she joined her big sister, “Ginny.” She attended Jefferson High School in Daly City, Calif., where she played the flute in band, excelled in gymnastics, and served as the school mascot. She loved being involved! Kathy had such a hunger to learn and continued her education at the College of San Mateo & Saint Leo University.
Kathy is lovingly remembered by her husband of 39 years, Dennis Quinn. They were married Oct. 10, 1987, at Edgewood Golf Course, South Lake Tahoe. They made their home in Palo Alto, Calif., where they raised their son, Christopher, and daughter Kacey. Their home was filled with love, not only for their two children, but for all the kids who made the Quinn house “their second home.” She loved the laughter and chaos.
In 2014, Dennis retired. Leaving California behind, they set up their new home in Post Falls. Kathy had the flexibility of working remotely and continued working. Kathy spent 33 years in a career she loved, helping people again. From Project Manager at Stanford Hospital & Clinics to VP of Oncology Data Management and Trauma Registry Services, she spent her last eight years with R.A.M. Healthcare Consulting Group, where she spearheaded the company’s oncology data management division. In a true testament to what a wonderful human being Kathy was, she not only was an advisor to clients, but also became their friend. Kathy had a unique ability to offer a kind word of encouragement to everyone. In June 2025, Kathy retired.
Kathy’s main attributes were her beautiful smile and her giving heart of gold. Her kindness, love, and strength touched the lives of everyone she met.
Kathy loved to vacation. She admired the beauty of our World and appreciated all of those memories spent with family and friends. Memories were made camping and boating at the many lakes of California or visiting family in Hawaii. Over the years, family and friend vacations also included cruises to the Caribbean, Alaska, Mexico, and Central America. It was Kathy’s dream to visit Europe and her dream came true. In 2024, she joined friends on a trip to Italy, and in 2026, she joined family for a Portuguese excursion. She was also able to live her lifelong dream of traveling the country by RV, ultimately touring 26 states and visiting family and friends along the way.
Kathy was also quite the competitor and avid board game player; she loved a good game of Pegs, Rummikub, and Scrabble. Recently, she took up the game Mahjong. Her competitive voice was also prevalent when her 49ers, SF Giants, or Gonzaga basketball games were on. There was no doubt who she was rooting for.
Giving was Kathy’s life, always generous to others in need. She belonged to 3Cs Twisted Stitchers Community and knitted hats for cancer patients. When her hair was long, she donated to Locks for Love. When schoolchildren needed a winter coat, backpack, or help covering camp costs, she donated. If a family was in crisis and started a GoFundMe account, she donated. If the Food Bank was low, she donated. Giving with a smile was her way.
We all rejoice that Kathy was able to enjoy the birth of her first grandchild, Carter Isa Quinn, on Aug. 1, 2026. She spent her final 27 days loving that sweet, little girl, some of the most joyous of her life.
Her wings were ready, but our hearts were not. A woman of deep loyalty and enduring love for those closest to her, Kathy leaves behind her husband, Dennis, Post Falls, Idaho; son Christopher Quinn, Liberty Lake, Wash.; daughter and daughter-in-law Kacey and Brittany Quinn, San Diego, Calif.; granddaughter Carter, San Diego, Calif.; sister and brother-in-law Ginny and Bob Quinn, Granite Bay, Calif.; brothers-in-law Tom Quinn, Indianapolis, Ind.; Terry Quinn, Folsom, Calif.; Kevin Quinn, Granite Bay, Calif., and Tom Kelly, Indianapolis, Ind. She also leaves behind many special cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends. May her memory bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Dominga Corden and in-laws, George and Mary Quinn.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, at The Club at Prairie Falls with a reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Kathy's name to the American Heart Association or Companion Animal Center (formerly Kootenai Humane Society), Hayden Lake, Idaho, as she also leaves behind Ryder, her special fur baby adopted from this center.
