POST FALLS — A rousing four-goal performance from Bonners Ferry senior Aaron Tadlock easily lifted the Badgers over Grangeville in the Intermountain District Tournament on Friday afternoon.

The Badgers played two narrow games against the Bulldogs in the regular season, which prompted some nerves in the win-or-go-home game, Bonners Ferry head coach Matt Solis said. However, Tadlock erased many of those nerves with the first of his four goals in the second minute.

“The ball kept rolling,” Solis said.

Tadlock quickly added his second score off a corner kick before rounding out his first-half hat trick off a pass from Miles Oxford to send the Badgers up 3-0 at the halftime break. Despite the advantage, Solis said his team knew they had to keep scoring to improve their MaxPreps ranking as they look ahead to the state tournament.

Tadlock added his fourth goal in the second half while seniors Peyton Hinthorn and Ben Middleton scored a goal each to polish off the dominant victory

“We went out with the same fire,” Solis said. “The boys came out with a ton of confidence, ready to win the game... they didn’t miss their chance.”

The victory for the Badgers secures them a spot in the IM District Tournament Championship game on Friday against Coeur d’Alene Charter at 5 p.m. at The Field at Real Life in Post Falls. The winner of that game qualifies for the 4A State Tournament, while the loser will head to a state tournament play-in game at Grangeville on Oct. 17.

“We’re going to go in with all the confidence in the world,” Solis said. “We hope to bring home a trophy that hasn’t been back in a couple years.”

Coeur d’Alene Charter 2, Bonners Ferry 0

POST FALLS — A pair of second-half goals proved too much for Bonners Ferry to overcome in their second Intermountain League District Tournament game on Friday as they fell to Coeur d’Alene Charter 2-0.

Bonners Ferry’s offense, which scored 12 goals in their tournament opener, kept up their pressure on Coeur d’Alene Charter. The Badgers couldn’t find the back of the net behind a strong game from CDAC’s goalkeeper.

“They played hard and never gave up,” Bonners Ferry head coach Emily Winebark said. “Great hustle and leadership from our seniors and captains, Nolie Hiatt and Addison Lucas, who never stopped fighting.”

The loss ends Bonners Ferry’s season, rounding out an 11-5-1 effort in an incredibly strong Intermountain League.
