Troy volleyball wins two of three; outlasts Eureka in five sets

The Troy volleyball team has won two of their last three matches including a five-set victory over Eureka.
The Trojans opened the stretch Thursday, Oct. 1, with a 3-1 home victory over Thompson Falls, winning 25-21, 25-17, 22-25, 25-19.
Addyson Fisher powered the Troy attack with a team-high 17 kills while adding nine digs and an ace.
Kirsti Jellesed directed the offense with 27 assists to go along with four kills, 12 digs and an ace.
Troy also received a strong defensive performance from Olivia Hall, who collected 29 digs and added two aces.
The Trojans were aggressive from the service line throughout the match. Kaydence Gamache and Avery Storkson each recorded five aces, while Ainsley Huitron added four.
Huitron finished with seven kills and two blocks, while Gamache had four kills, seven digs and a block. Storkson added four kills and 17 digs.
Troy's lone loss of the stretch came two days later against Plains.
The Trojans pushed the Trotters throughout the match but fell 25-21, 22-25, 25-20, 28-26.
Troy evened the match by taking the second set before Plains regained the advantage in the third. The Trojans then battled into extra points in the fourth before the Trotters escaped with the 28-26 win.
Fisher again led Troy offensively with 12 kills while adding 10 digs, three aces and a block.
Gamache finished with seven kills, nine digs and three aces, while Huitron added five kills, nine digs, three aces and a block.
Jellesed recorded 18 assists, 16 digs, two kills and two aces. Hall finished with 13 digs, while Storkson added six digs, three kills and three aces.
Troy bounced back Tuesday, Oct. 6, in its most competitive match of the stretch, edging Eureka 3-2.
Little separated the teams throughout the five sets.
Troy grabbed the opener 26-24 before Eureka responded with a 25-22 victory in the second. The Trojans moved back in front with a 25-20 win in the third, but Eureka forced a deciding set by taking the fourth 25-23.
Troy finished the job in the fifth, winning 15-12 to secure the match.

The Lady Trojans played at Bonners Ferry Thursday night. They return home Monday, Oct. 12, to host Mission. The junior varsity begins at 4 p.m. and varsity at 5:30 p.m. Senior Night will follow Thursday, Oct. 15 with Noxon coming to town. Start times are the same.
