Bulldogs put away Braves late

BUTTE — Jaeger Hansen had a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns as Butte took advantage of four Flathead turnovers to defeat the Braves 35-7 Friday at Naranche Stadium.

Raeder Grey and Miner Lee led the Bulldog rushing attack with 185 yards combined. 

Lee went for 90 yards and the first touchdown of the ballgame, a 13-yard score just over two minutes in. Grey had 95 yards on the ground. 

Hudson Steele and Brady Walsh hauled in a touchdown grab to put Butte (4-4 overall, 2-3 in the Western AA) up 21-0 through three quarters. 

Flathead answered back with a 65-yard pass from Bear Barker to Robbie Wells. Wells fumbled as he was 5 yards away from the end zone, but Kellan Manning was Johnny on the spot to recover the loose ball and get Flathead on the board. 

Hansen sealed the game with his two fourth-quarter scores, the first from 2 yards away. The second was a 6-yard scamper. 

Butte had Barker's number in the passing game, as the Braves senior was 11-for-29 with three interceptions. He threw for 236 yards. 

Brett Chivers had 99 yards on the ground over 24 carries. 

Flathead outgained the Bulldogs 335-277 but still fell to 1-4 in the Western AA (3-4 overall) with its fourth straight loss. 

The Braves return home for their final two games of the season, starting with a Crosstown matchup with Glacier on Thursday.
