PRICE, Utah — Brynlie Cornia, a freshman from Nibley, Utah, had 14 kills and eight digs for North Idaho College in a 25-17, 25-17, 26-28, 27-25 loss to Utah State-Eastern in a Scenic West Athletic Conference match at the Bunnell-Dmitrich Athletic Center on Friday.

Camryn Farrar, a freshman from Coeur d’Alene High, had seven kills and 11 digs, freshman Zoe Galbreath 17 assists and 12 digs and freshman Mikayla Esquivel nine kills for NIC (18-7, 4-3 SWAC).

“Our offense struggled in the first two sets, just some decision-making and hesitation,” NIC coach Drew Pascua said. “Once we got that going, we were a different team, and we played some hard-nosed defense to give us a shot to take it to a fifth. Just missed a few opportunities at the end of the fourth. We let this one slip away and I know the girls are fired up to play them again tomorrow.”

Sela Christiansen had 13 kills for Utah State-Eastern (12-10, 5-2).

The teams meet again today in Price.
