NOXON — The Clark Fork Wampus Cats did what they’ve done all year Thursday night, as they fought past the Noxon Red Devils in three sets (25-13, 25-18, 25-18) in a nonleague game.

Sophomore Vanessa Rogier led the Wampus Cats with eight kills, followed by freshman Grace Thompson, who added seven kills on 10 attempts. Clark Fork finished with a .370 attacking percentage, their best of the entire season, according to Wampus Cats’ head coach Lyndsie Kiebert-Carey.

“We had to earn our points against Noxon, who has improved a lot in the weeks since we last saw them,” Kiebert-Carey said. “We dug ourselves a six-point hole in the second set and had to make some adjustments to work our way out of that. It was a night of scrappy, fun volleyball.”

Clark Fork cobbled together 24 total aces with six different players earning at least one ace against Noxon. Freshman Molly Adams had her second straight stellar game from the service line, earning nine aces while committing only one service error. Adams also led the Wampus Cats with five digs.

Sophomore setter Kiylah Anderson added six aces, five kills and 21 assists on Thursday. Senior Nora-Jean Hoy had the team’s only block while adding three aces and kills to help lift her team to 15-0.

Clark Fork polished off their regular season with a 1A North Star League showdown against Mullan, who they swept on Sept. 29. The game did not end by the Bee’s print deadline, so a full recap will appear in Tuesday’s print paper.

Next up for the Wampus Cats is the North Star District Tournament held at North Idaho College from Oct. 13 and Oct. 15.

Clark Fork will enter as the top seed and get a bye to the district championship game, held on Oct. 15. The Wampus Cats will play the winner of the Oct. 13 game between Coeur du Christ and Kootenai in that game, with a chance at state on the line.
