Carroll rolls past Western behind Huot, Wilkinson

HELENA — Kaden Huot threw four touchdowns, all to Ty Wilkinson, as No. 12 Carroll College rolled past Montana Western 52-10 in Frontier Conference football Saturday.
Wilkinson finished with six catches for 93 yards, scoring on receptions of 3, 15, 18, and 36 yards. Huot threw for 136 yards and added 107 yards on the ground, while Beau Butner led the Saints (5-1 overall, 2-0 in the West Division) with 113 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries.
Kaden LaPlaunt paced the Bulldogs (2-4, 0-2) with 157 yards passing. Eli Nourse hauled in five catches for 92 yards, and Aidan Lammers added 38 rushing yards and Western’s lone touchdown.
Wilkinson scored three times in the first half as Carroll built a 24-3 advantage at the break.
He added his fourth touchdown in the third quarter before Lammers answered with a 1-yard score to make it 31-10.
The Saints pulled away from there. Butner broke loose for touchdown runs of 50 and 25 yards, and Brody Boness added a 7-yard score in the fourth.
Western was held to 236 total yards, including just 53 on the ground.
Former Columbia Falls standout Kai Golan handled nine kickoffs for Carroll, totaling 564 yards with seven touchbacks. Glacier products Mark Ahner and Alex Hausmann combined for four tackles.
For Western, Thompson Falls product Bryson LeCoure finished with seven tackles, including one solo stop, while Mission alum Canyon Sargent added three assisted tackles.
No. 6 Montana Tech 62, MSU-Northern 0
BUTTE — Former Polson standout Jarrett Wilson threw for 205 yards and four touchdowns, leading Tech to a shutout victory over Northern.
The Orediggers (6-1, 2-0) outgained the Lights 516-62 while forcing three interceptions and recording three sacks.
Levi Torgerson caught five passes for 90 yards and two touchdowns, while former Flathead product Anders Thompson added a 1-yard scoring run in the second quarter and finished with 19 yards on five carries.
For Northern (0-6, 0-1), Braydon Cline led the defense with 12 tackles, while Benjamin Lehnerz added eight and George West came away with an interception.
Simpson 36, Southern Oregon 35
ASHLAND, Ore. — Ya’j Vance scored on a 13-yard run as time expired to lift the Red Hawks past the Raiders.
Walker Bonar caught a 1-yard touchdown pass from Dom Montiel to give Southern Oregon a 35-23 lead with 7:15 remaining.
The Red Hawks responded on the following drive as Michah Sua found Tyler Shoffner for a 3-yard touchdown.
Simpson made a critical stop on the Raiders final drive, stopping running back Fresh Ison on fourth-and-1, giving the Red Hawks possession on their 25-yard line with just under two minutes to play.
Vance led Simpson down the field by connecting with multiple receivers, including a 26-yard pass to Ivan Huera to put the Red Hawks at the Raiders 21-yard line with 28 seconds remaining. Vance then found Jakari Williams for an 8-yard gain before rushing in the final score as time expired.
Vance threw for 346 yards and three touchdowns, while Huerta caught five passes for 159 yards and three scores.
Southern Oregon (2-4, 1-1) was led by Ison, who rushed for 212 yards and four touchdowns.
