One person is in custody after an early morning shooting in Kalispell on Tuesday left one dead and several wounded, authorities say.
Kaleb Anthony Hilliard, 21, is being held on pending charges of deliberate homicide and three counts of attempted deliberate homicide, said Kalispell Police Chief Jordan Venezio in a Tuesday afternoon statement.
The gunfire began about 1:13 a.m., Oct. 13 on the 100 block of Seventh Avenue East North, officials said. Arriving officers found several people suffering from gunshot wounds.
A 19-year-old man died at the scene, Venezio said. Authorities are notifying his next of kin before identifying him.
Three other individuals injured in the shooting were taken to Logan Health Medical Center for care.
Venezio said officers tracked Hilliard to a Kalispell home and arrested him.
Although the shooting remains under investigation, officials said it appeared as though the individuals involved knew one another. They deemed it an isolated incident and said there was no ongoing threat to public safety.
Authorities said that investigators would be working at the crime scene "for quite some time." They urged residents to avoid the area in the meantime.
