One person is in custody after an early morning shooting in Kalispell on Tuesday left one dead and several wounded, authorities say.  

The gunfire began about 1:13 a.m., Oct. 13 on the 100 block of Seventh Avenue East North, officials said. Arriving Kalispell Police officers found several people suffering from gunshot wounds.  

One individual died at the scene, authorities said. The remaining injured were taken to Logan Health Medical Center for care.  

Although the shooting remains under investigation, officials said it appeared as though the individuals involved knew one another.  

They deemed it an isolated incident and said there was no ongoing threat to public safety.  

Authorities said that investigators will be working at the crime scene "for quite some time." They urged residents to avoid the area in the meantime.
