Bradford “Brad” Cleave, lovingly known to so many as Pops, Papa, and Senior, passed away Oct. 4, 2026, at the age of 70. Born on Sept. 21, 1956, Brad lived a life defined by hard work, family, faith, and a willingness to lend a hand to anyone who needed one.

Brad was the son of Ron and Carol Cleave and grew up alongside his siblings, Dan, Mark, and Jenny. He proudly served six years in the United States Coast Guard, achieving the rank of Boatswain’s Mate Second Class (BM2). His service took him to Astoria, Ore., where he met Jamé, the woman who would become his wife of 50 years.

In 2001, Brad founded B&J Custom Painting, building more than a business. Through his example, he passed along a commitment to craftsmanship, dedication, and taking care of people. He was a man who believed in doing things the right way and never shied away from a hard day’s work.

Pops was happiest when surrounded by the people he loved, especially at the family property. You could often find him up before the sun, walking the grounds with a cup of coffee in hand. There was always another project to tackle, something to fix, or a story to tell. A true jack-of-all-trades, he built and improved his home with his own hands, taking on everything from framing and drywall to electrical work. The property was his little slice of heaven and will forever hold his presence.

He loved to talk, to laugh, and to make people feel welcome. Whether he was sharing a story, offering advice, or simply sitting down for coffee, he had a way of making ordinary moments memorable. His greatest legacy is not only what he built, but the love, wisdom, and memories he leaves with his family and friends.

Brad is survived by his beloved wife, Jamé Cleave; his mother, Carol Jean Cleave; his daughter, Audrey, her husband, Travis Owens, and their son, JT Owens; his son, Brad Jr., his wife, Desiree, and their children, Lexie, Breese, and Declan; and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Ron Cleave, and his brother, Mark Cleave.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Brad’s life on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, at 2 p.m. at The Stain Shop, 10070 N. Atlas Road, Hayden, Idaho — a place that was among his familiar stomping grounds. Please come ready to share your favorite memories and stories of Pops.
