The Lake County Leader has been seeking a sports reporter since May to help us deliver the local sports coverage our communities deserve. As we continue working to fill that position, we know our local coverage isn't meeting our readers' expectations.

We hear that frustration and share the desire to provide comprehensive coverage of our local student-athletes. In the meantime, we are doing what we can with the staff and resources available to us, including publishing photos and highlights whenever possible.

We understand that photographs cannot replace the stories and reporting a dedicated sports reporter provides, but they are one way we can continue to recognize our local athletes.

We are currently asking the local community to submit photos of our student-athletes for publication. When submitting photos, be sure to include the athletes' names, teams and the date of the game. All submissions are subject to editorial review.

We are also seeking a part-time contractor to assist with local sports or community coverage. You can email contributed sports photos and inquiries about our contractor position to [email protected].

We appreciate our readers’ patience as we continue to fill this position. Local sports are an important part of our communities, and we remain committed to covering them as well as we can in the meantime.
