Whitefish Theatre Company kicks off its Main Stage productions for the 2026-27 season with “Tokens of Affection,” a warm-hearted comedy about marriage, family and meddling adult children by Topher Payne.
In this play directed by Rebecca Spear, Frank Garrett is caught completely off guard when Jackie, his wife of 37 years, announces she’s leaving.
Her only explanation — “You don’t send me flowers.”
Frank seeks solace and answers at the New York apartment of his son Charlie. When Charlie calls his sister Claire in a panic, he discovers Jackie has found refuge at Claire’s Connecticut home. With a series of telephone conspiracies, the siblings join forces on a mission to get their parents back together, and more importantly, back in their own home.
A modern homage to mid-century romantic comedies, “Tokens of Affection,” is a warm-hearted and funny look at family dynamics temporarily turned upside down.
Directed by Rebecca Spear, the cast stars Ian Wheeler, Amy Galt, Desiree Roberson, Wes Hart, Jim Mohn and Dawn Watland.
A 7:30 p.m. preview performance is planned for Oct. 15. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for children and will only be sold at the box office on the night of the performance.
Performances are also scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 16 and 17 and Oct. 22, 23 and 24. A 4 p.m. matinee is planned for Oct. 18. Tickets to these performances are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and $10 for students and can be purchased at whitefishtheatreco.org, the box office or by calling 406-862-5371.
A special talkback with Payne will follow the Oct. 23 performance.
All performances will be at the O’Shaughnessy Center, 1 Central Ave., Whitefish.
The production is sponsored by Hank and Sue Ricklefs and Andrew Matulionis.
