Jerry Hart, 82, of Moses Lake, passed away on Oct. 2, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Born on July 9, 1944, in Caruthersville, Missouri, to James and Ruby Hart, Jerry grew up with a strong work ethic and a deep sense of responsibility. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country.
Following his discharge, Jerry worked in several trades, beginning as a sheet metal union worker. His entrepreneurial spirit later led him to become Moses Lake’s first chimney sweep, a job he loved because it allowed him to meet people throughout the community – especially children, who were always fascinated by his work. Jerry eventually went into business with his wife, assisting in appraising property damage for Frontier Adjusters, a career he continued until retirement.
In retirement, Jerry faced great adversity after an accident left him with a broken neck, ultimately confining him to a wheelchair. Despite this hardship, he remained resilient, good-humored and devoted to his family.
Jerry loved camping, hunting and fishing with family and friends. He enjoyed tinkering around the house and yard, always finding a way to fix things without spending much money. Above all, Jerry cherished time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend – known for his kindness, humor, dedication, and craftsmanship.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Carol; his son, Duke; six grandchildren: Morgan Merchant, Nikole Beach, Camron Yearout, Ashley Hart, Amanda Bean and David Hart; five great-grandchildren: Kiara Merchant, Rhone Merchant, Oliver Ball, Cora Bean and Calvin Bean; and one brother, Gary Hart of St. Clair, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his daughter Anjanette Yearout, his brother Randy Hart and his parents, James and Ruby Hart.
A memorial service to honor Jerry’s life will be held on Oct. 31, 2026, at 11 at Peninsula Community Church, 2403 W. Texas St., Moses Lake, Washington.
