Glacier Park International Airport was named one of the nation’s top resort airports in USA Today’s 10BEST Readers’ Choice Awards.

The awards recognize travel destinations, attractions and experiences across the country. A panel of travel experts selected the nominees and the public voted to determine the final rankings, airport officials said on Oct. 15.

The transit hub was recognized for providing easy access to Kalispell, Whitefish and Glacier National Park’s west entrance from most major cities in the United States, according to USA Today.

The accolade was also due to the rental car counter’s convenient proximity to the baggage claim. It also praised the Goat Haunt Saloon — located in the terminal — for serving bison dishes until 10 p.m.

“Being recognized among the nation’s best resort airports is a tremendous honor, especially because this award comes from the travelers themselves,” Airport Director Rob Ratkowski said in a statement.

“Our goal has always been to make the airport experience a positive part of every journey. This recognition reflects the hard work of our airport team, airline partners and the many people who help make [Glacier Park International Airport] great,” he added.

Glacier Park International Airport ranked 10th, just below Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport. Airports in California, South Carolina and Florida topped the charts. Sarasota Bradenton International Airport in Florida took top honors.

Glacier Park International Airport underwent major upgrades in the past five years, including expanding its terminal from 75,000 square feet to 200,000 square feet and creating three new boarding gates that opened in 2024.

The terminal’s front facade received a facelift, and the baggage claim and rental car offices underwent renovations. Officials also expanded the ticketing area. The improved amenities are all connected by a central atrium, which received an opening celebration in June 2025.

Airport passenger numbers have doubled over the past decade. In 2014, it welcomed fewer than 250,000 passengers; 2024 saw over 500,000.
