Time to step up, support the Libby Food Pantry

Libby Food Pantry is a member of the Montana Food Bank Network. Like many in our community, we’ve been affected by “pain at the pump” and rising food costs.

Every six weeks, our delivery truck arrives from Missoula. The truck pulls in and we write out checks to pay for our food purchases. The increase in diesel is added to each item - pantry staples or meat. Our last truck delivery was almost $20,000.

Libby Food Pantry relies on both food and cash donations to keep the door open. Libby’s community pantry is staffed by volunteers; there are no paid employees.

Like you, the pantry pays for electric, propane, water, insurance and phone. Food is our main expense and holiday baskets are just around the corner. We need your help.

Town Pump’s matching funds campaign, “Be a friend in Deed. Help a friend in Need” is up and running. If you donate $10, with Town Pump’s help, it becomes $20. Matching dollars is happening through Nov. 30.

So, who is the Pantry feeding?

More than 300 households per month earning less than $17,000 annually. This includes seniors, disabled, homeless and families with children. Our backpack and Central School program feed 160 kids throughout the school year.

Please consider contributing to the Libby Food Pantry. A child’s backpack, filled with weekend food costs $8.50/bag. Hand that out to 100 school kids and we’ve spent $850.

Please consider donating.

Mail a check to Libby Food Panty, PO Box 311 or deliver it to Libby Food Pantry at 409 West Balsam on Tuesday between 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Let’s make magic: give us $5 and it becomes $10.

Thank you,

Libby Food Pantry, Community Volunteers
