SANDPOINT — Two weeks after a recording of a Bonner County business meeting was removed from the county's YouTube page at the direction of Commissioner Ron Korn, commissioners have confirmed that the video has been restored to the county's streaming platform.
The video, a recording of an Oct. 6, 2026, business meeting, was restored last Thursday, according to the county's website.
Transparency concerns surround the video, after Commissioner Ron Korn directed the county's technology department to temporarily remove the video from the county's YouTube page, "pending legal repercussions," according to an email between Korn and the technology department.
At the time of publishing, Korn has not responded to inquiries from the Daily Bee on the matter, nor has he made a statement about the video’s removal.
Despite speculation on social media platforms, a motive has not been officially confirmed regarding the video removal.
After learning that the video has been removed, Commissioner Asia Williams sought a legal opinion on the matter, where Prosecutor Louis Marshall said it would be "proper" to have the board vote on whether to remove a public meeting from YouTube, as a previous board vote decided to post to the public platform in the first place.
Williams noted that she did not ask the technology department to republish the video, so as to not place a county employee in the middle of two elected officials.
At the county's most recent business meeting, Commissioner Brian Domke made a comment on the matter, stating that he believed the video should remain on the county's YouTube page since a board vote did not approve the removal.
"After considering the legal opinion that was provided by the prosecutor on this matter, I made staff aware that a majority of the board had not approved the action of removing the video and indicated it was my position that such an action did require approval of a majority of the board," Domke said. "I'm glad it's been reposted because of that situation, and so hopefully we can simply move forward from there."
In that same meeting, Williams said no consequences would result from the removed video, but that it's up to the public to address their concerns with each respective official.
