THOMPSON FALLS – It was a monster match.

Featuring Jekyll and Hyde like performances from both teams, coach Sandra Kazmierczak and her Thompson Falls Lady Hawks moved past the rival Plains Trotters 25-22, 22-25, 25-8, 8-25, 15-11 in District 7B conference action in Thompson Falls.

The monstrous match was played in front of a frenzied pink-clad student body loudly expressing their support for the hometown team. In the end, the passion of the crowd may have been what ultimately pushed the Hawks to the victory, their second of the season over the rival Trotters, after the two teams had split the first four sets in identical scores.

“The momentum changed a couple times in that match,” Kazmierczak said. “Luckily we were able to get it going our way again in that fifth set. The girls were determined in the end, made good choices on the rallies and we were able to pull it out.”

Senior Addy Deal floored 14 kills and five stuff blocks to lead the Hawks to the win, in addition to amassing a team-high 23 digs on defense.

Aubrey Baxter also slammed 14 kills, added two stuff blocks and six digs, Jasmin Risch added five kills, 13 digs and two service aces, Marley Robinson a kill, 12 digs and an ace, and Makarlie Stein two kills and five digs.

Audrey Fairbank directed the action for the Hawks with 25 set assists, besides hitting two kills, two blocks, 15 digs and four aces.

In other action last week, the Hawks overcame a slow start to defeat Darby 25-16, 25-6, 25-7 also in Thompson Falls Saturday.

Deal blasted 13 kills, blocked four Tiger kill attempts and hit four service aces in that match, Baxter hit six kills, four blocks and an ace, Robinson five kills, Risch two kills and five aces, and Faribank 24 set assists, three kills and four aces.

The Hawks were to have hosted Troy Tuesday in their only scheduled action of the coming week.
