Celebrating breast cancer awareness month by outfitting themselves in pink uniforms, coach Josie Shafer and her Alberton Panthers fell 26-24, 21-25, 25-22, 25-22 to visiting Noxon in Alberton Tuesday.
Back on court in normal attire Friday in Alberton for senior night, the Panther fell 24-26, 15-25, 25-23, 25-18, 15-12 to Victor in a five-set thriller.
Arya Ray led the Panthers against Noxon with a season-high 11 aces and nine digs, Shafer said, Annie Roehl was good on 13 of 14 serves with two aces in addition to hitting eight digs and three kills, and Layla Hill hit six kills and five aces.
Shafer said the senior night match with Victor “was an amazing night full of emotions and memories,” pointing to her team’s serving as a highlight. “The Panthers came together as a team and whipped up a team total of 24 aces,” she said, “and served at 82% as a team.”
Anya Porras hit seven of those aces, Hill hit six kills, Michayla Hansen went 20 for 23 serving with four aces, Ray had 15 digs and Breanna Turner three blocks.
The Panthers have a busy week of net play on tap, playing at Charlo Tuesday, hosting Hot Springs Thursday and playing at Seeley-Swan Saturday.
