Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 1 hour, 33 minutes AGO
On Sept. 10, Shirlene Perisho passed away peacefully in Athol, Idaho, at the age of 87.
Shirlene grew up in Portland, Ore., with her three older siblings. After high school, she attended George Fox College. While there, she shared her talents in the choir, a traveling ladies' musical trio, and on the basketball court. It was there she met Stan, who would become the love of her life. They were married and shortly after moved to Wenatchee, Wash., where Stan started his first pastorate and they started a family.
She found profound joy in raising her children and serving as a pastor’s wife, a true calling from the Lord. Together, they shared a beautiful life in ministry, starting there and continuing in Meridian, Idaho; Denver, Colo.; Newberg, Ore.; Huntington Beach, Calif.; and finally Hayden, Idaho. She was also a vital part of Sabbath Ministries, working with pastors across the globe, providing counsel and sabbatical relief.
Her legacy lives on through her brother, Don Swisher; her three children, Bruce Perisho, Renae Burke and Janette Nostrum; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, Nov. 7, at 10 a.m. at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel, at 373 E. Hayden Ave., Hayden, ID 83835. Arrangements are provided by Yates Funeral Home. The online registry and obituary are available at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
