North Fork Crossing and Silas Herman & The Tone Unit are coming together for a two-night engagement Oct. 23 and 24 at The Second Story in downtown Whitefish.

They’ll bring an evening of bluegrass, jamgrass, Americana, psychedelic folk, and old-time string music to an intimate indoor room.

North Fork Crossing is a new-age bluegrass band living somewhere between the traditional world of timeless fiddle tunes and ballads and the wide-open possibilities of the jamgrass community.

Based in Montana's Gallatin Valley, the quintet of Cade Slayden, Ryan Kelly, Rabi Phelan, Silas Rea and Matt Hickey, is part of a new generation pushing string band music forward without losing sight of its roots. Their recently released sophomore album, "Portland Rose," showcases that evolution with 12 new studio tracks blending traditional bluegrass, old-time music, jamgrass, heartfelt ballads and hard-driving banjo.

Joining them is Silas Herman & The Tone Unit, led by the Colorado-born multi-instrumentalist whose music draws from new acoustic, folk, bluegrass, psychedelic and Americana traditions. From intimate acoustic performances to high-energy improvisational sets, Herman has built a reputation for virtuosic playing and deeply soulful performances.

Tickets are $35 and are available at buzzhive.info/e/north-fork-crossing-silas-herman-the-tone-unit-2026-10-23.
