Polson Seniors: Make your voice heard on Election Day
Pete Mangels | Lake County Leader | UPDATED 1 hour, 56 minutes AGO
Vote on Tuesday, Nov. 3. New voters may register prior to or on Election Day.
Make your voice heard. Research a candidate or constitutional amendments without relying on television or social media. Try reading and asking your friends. Voter information is also available at the Courthouse Annex, the library and the senior center.
Our transportation department offers round-trip rides for $8 to places within a five-mile radius of the Polson Senior Center on weekdays only. We have one driver and reservations the day before (or earlier) are highly recommended.
The longer you wait to call the less likely a ride will be available for you. No driver is available from 11 a.m. to noon.
Lunch is served from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday-Friday ($5 donation; $10 without a completed MASTS form). Milk is available with all meals.
Delivered meals are only available to those who qualify according to our guidelines and recipients must pre-register 24 hours in advance for delivery.
The menu (subject to substitutions) includes pigs in a blanket, Oct. 22; birthday ham dinner with all the fixings and orange dream cake, Oct. 23; cabbage patch soup, Oct. 26; chicken enchiladas with spicy beans, Oct. 27; pork chops and mashed spuds with gravy, Oct. 28; hamburgers with tots and baked beans, Oct. 29; and witches stew (raven?) in a cauldron, frog-eye salad and petrified pumpkin bars, Oct. 30 (costume up for Halloween!).
Activities at the center include bingo at 6 p.m. Fridays and card bingo, 6 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays; pinochle, 12:30 p.m. Monday, no pass, and Thursdays, pass four (new and old players welcome); pool table available 8 a.m.-3 p.m. daily; mahjong and bridge, noon Wednesdays (looking for substitutes and regular players); and exercise class (low impact and video-assisted), 10:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Spinning Wheelers meet 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays (call 208-520-1013); and the veterans service officer visits the center from 10 a.m.-noon on the first Friday and third Tuesday of each month (walk-ins welcome).
Our Polson Senior Citizens community center provides space for individuals and groups to meet for physical and mental health, social and educational purposes, and may be reserved for special events on weekends and evenings. We are open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays, or later by appointment.
