BONNERS FERRY — The Bonners Ferry Rotary Club brought together area residents for a morning of food, fellowship and fundraising for local projects as members held the organization’s annual free Community Breakfast and Silent Auction on Oct. 17.

The event, which was held at the Boundary County Fairgrounds’ VEC Hall featured a free breakfast and a silent auction made possible through donations from local businesses and individuals.

Rotary President Sandy Johnstone said the beautiful fall weather provided a perfect setting for the event, which drew a steady crowd throughout the morning.

Breakfast chair Sheryl Neal and her team had the kitchen ready before guests arrived, preparing a variety of breakfast options for attendees to enjoy.

The event also received help from local high school leadership teams, whose students assisted with the silent auction. Stationed at auction tables, students welcomed bidders, answered questions and helped guide participants through the bidding process.

Johnstone praised the students for their enthusiasm and the energy they brought to the event.

The silent auction featured a wide selection of donated items, gift baskets, gift cards and other contributions from area businesses and community members. According to Johnstone, every bid sheet received offers, with numerous attendees taking home winning items.

Among those attending was David Keyes, a founding member of the Bonners Ferry Rotary Club and past Rotary district governor. Keyes even purchased a shirt worn by fellow attendee for $100, adding a memorable moment to the day's fundraising efforts.

Proceeds from the silent auction will help Rotary continue supporting student scholarships, community events, sponsorships and other local service projects throughout Boundary County.

Johnstone said the event reflected Rotary's guiding principles of "Service Above Self," "Unite for Good" and creating a lasting impact through community involvement.

"It truly takes a village of members and volunteers, combined with an extremely generous hometown, to create such an event," Johnstone and Neal shared in a joint statement. "Thank you, thank you, one and all!"

The Rotary Club expressed its appreciation to the volunteers, students, businesses, donors and community members who helped make the annual event possible.

A complete list of silent auction donors is expected to be posted on the Bonners Ferry Rotary Club's Facebook page.
