Our cherished husband and father, Wallace “Wally” Leroy Page, 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 9, 2026, at Logan Health in Kalispell, surrounded by his family.

Wally was born Feb. 6, 1942, in Missoula to Elva (Weiby) Weber and James Page. He graduated from Thompson Falls High School in 1960 and competed in basketball, football, and track. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in forestry from the University of Montana.

While working on the Clearwater and Nez Perce National Forests in Kamiah, Idaho, Wally fell in love with Diana “Jo” Hendren and her son, Eric. They married in 1967.

Before deploying to South Vietnam, he proudly adopted Eric. Wally enlisted in the United States Army National Guard and deployed to South Vietnam, where he served with Company D, 116th Engineer Battalion. Wally and Jo later welcomed daughters Kristin and Sarah.

Wally devoted most of his career to the U.S. Forest Service as a hydrologist on the Beaverhead and Flathead National Forests. His work reflected his lifelong respect for protecting forests, wildlife, and clean water. He shared his love of nature through hiking, fishing, hunting, gardening, and outdoor lessons. His invitations to “take a shortcut” rarely produced a shorter route but became favorite family adventures.

A thoughtful listener with a quiet sense of humor, Wally followed public affairs, never missed an election, and loved the Grizzlies, Lady Griz, Dodgers, and handball. He played into his eighties and made lasting friendships at tournaments in the United States and Canada.

Above all, Wally showed up for those he loved. He and Jo traveled across Montana and the United States to support their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Wally was preceded in death by his mother, Elva Weiby; his father, James Page; and his stepfather, Julius Weiby. He is survived by his wife, Diana “Jo” Page (Kalispell); his son, Eric Page (Missoula); his daughters, Kristin Page-Nei (Helena) and Sarah (Ryan) Robinson (Marion); his grandchildren, Jessica, Aaron (Sybil), Jolynn (Greg), Trevor (Samantha), Sadie (Jesse), Grady, and Weston; his great-grandchildren, Adyn, Ashton, Chloe, Parker, and Joseph; his cousins, Julie Repp and Rick Kendall of Thompson Falls; and many other relatives and friends who loved him dearly.

An informal gathering will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2026, at the Silverbrook Estates Clubhouse, 115 W. Monture Ridge, Kalispell.

Honor Wally’s memory by loving family fiercely and protecting natural spaces, wildlife, and clean water.

Memorial donations may be made to Montana PBS, Montana Public Radio, or the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home is caring for the family.
