Griz open ‘27 football season at Weber St.

MISSOULA — Montana’s 2027 football schedule has now been finalized with the Big Sky Conference announcing its league matrix for all 13 member programs on Tuesday.  

The Grizzlies will play seven home games again next year, four against conference opponents and three nonconference, with five away games.   

Montana opens on the road with a Big Sky game against Weber State slated for Aug. 28 in Ogden. UM hasn’t opened the season on the road since a 2021 trip to Seattle to face Washington. 

It is also the second straight year the Griz open the year against a conference opponent as the league continues to balance its schedule following the additions of Southern Utah and Utah Tech. 

The Griz are home the entire month of September. UM hosts Lehigh, Central Washington and West Florida before league foe Cal Poly visits Washington-Grizzly Stadium for Homecoming on Sept. 25. 

Montana then takes a rare tour of the Gem State, playing consecutive road games at Idaho and Idaho State on Oct. 2 and 9, respectively. The stretch marks the first time since 1974 the Griz have gone on the road to face both the Vandals and Bengals in the same regular season, and the first time since 1968 UM has played back-to-back weeks in the state of Idaho. 

Following a Halloween bye week on Oct. 30, Montana hosts Northern Arizona, travels to St. George to face Utah Tech and then brings in Montana State for the 126th Brawl of the Wild on Nov. 20. 

Montana has sold the most season ticket packages in program history over the last two seasons, and the 2027 season ticket renewals and deposits on new packages are set to open early in the New Year.
