Izan Almansa and Parker Jefferson scored 12 points each for the Gonzaga Bulldogs in a 91-59 exhibition win over the NAIA Lewis-Clark State Warriors in front of 6,000 at the McCarthey Athletic Center on Wednesday.
Jefferson grabbed a game-high six rebounds. Braden Huff and Javon Bennett added 11 points each for Gonzaga, which shot 56% from the field.
Xaivien Lee had five of Gonzaga's 23 assists.
Titus Yearout, the former Lapwai High star who transferred from Idaho, led Lewis-Clark State with 11 points. Royce Fisher, a freshman from Lewiston High had seven points and Carson Way, a junior from Lewiston, added three points for the Warriors.
“Good effort from our guys tonight,” Lewis-Clark State coach Austin Johnson said. “Obviously Gonzaga is one of the elite programs and I thought there were stretches where we really competed and went head-to-head with them. We had contributions from different guys and took some steps forward. Need to keep building our identity. Thankful to GU for hosting us and helping the community of Spokane that was impacted by the fires.”
Gonzaga opens the regular season on Monday against Purdue in Las Vegas (4:30 p.m., TNT/TRUTV).
