Daily Inter-Lake | UPDATED 3 days, 18 hours AGO
Glacier Symphony will be presenting a Halloween-themed concert on Oct. 31 at 2 p.m. at the Wachholz College Center.
The matinée performance will include spooky classical selections, including the suspenseful symphonic children’s tale "Peter and the Wolf." This concert is perfectly timed for children and their families to enjoy trick-or-treating afterwards in the evening, and costumes are encouraged. Tickets available at glaciersymphony.org.
Glacier Symphony Cellist Amy Zoltek will narrate the Russian children’s tale "Peter and the Wolf," which features a cast of human and animal characters creatively represented through different instruments in the orchestra. Other musical selections on the program include “Night on Bald Mountain” by Mussorgsky, “Danse Macabre” by Saint-Saëns, “Funeral March of the Marionnette” by Gounod, and “In the Hall of the Mountain King” by Grieg. In addition to the musical program, Glacier Symphony will be displaying art in the lobby as part of our student Art & Creative Writing Contest. Winners will be featured in the pre-concert slideshow and will receive themed prizes from local music store Flathead Woodwind and Brass.
Glacier Symphony’s Halloween Special is part of the new Kaleidoscope Series, a concert trio throughout Season 44 that features family repertoire and $25 tickets anywhere in the hall. Other Kaleidoscope concerts this season will be Symphony Brass on Sunday, Nov. 15 at 3 p.m. and Electric Freedom — Jazz Fusion with the Maestro on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 7:30 p.m.
