Fall produce is rich in essential vitamins and antioxidants seniors need to maintain bone density and build immunity as the weather turns colder.

Pumpkin and winter squash help support vision, regulate blood pressure and maintain bone density. Root vegetables (carrots, sweet potatoes, beets and turnips) are high in dietary fiber, regulate digestion, keep you full longer, support healthy gut bacteria and help regulate blood sugar. They are also high in antioxidants. Apples and pears are also a good source of fiber and promote heart health.

For hydration in colder weather, and in addition to water, try hot teas, broths and moisture-rich stews and soups.

Everyone is welcome at our meals (young and old). Come enjoy a delicious meal and good conversation. If you want a take-out meal, please call 406-745-4462 by 10 a.m. on Tuesday and Friday and by 2 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday; lunch is served at noon Tuesday and Friday and 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays. Menus for the month are available in the entryway.

Main dishes for the upcoming week salmon patties with broccoli salad, Friday, Oct. 30; pulled pork sandwiches, Tuesday, Nov. 3; meatloaf and potatoes, Wednesday, Nov. 4; and pork stir-fry and rice, Friday, Nov. 6.

Our senior center is available for rent; call for information. If you have questions about obtaining Elder Commodities, call or stop by for information and an application.

Gentle yoga is 12:30 p.m. Wednesdays and costs $5 per week. Bring your own mat.
