'An American Piano Journey' this evening
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 1 hour, 6 minutes AGO
There is something special about hearing live music in a room where the musicians are only a few feet away. The Music Conservatory of Coeur d’Alene is inviting audiences to enjoy that experience tonight at 7 p.m.
Pianists Matt Goodrich and Melody Puller present “250 Express: An American Piano Journey,” a musical journey celebrating 250 years of American music.
The family-friendly recital will explore the America that only a piano can conjure, bringing together familiar favorites and rediscovered composers. Through carefully selected music and stories shared from the stage, Goodrich and Puller will take listeners across the American musical landscape, revealing connections between composers, traditions and generations.
“As the Conservatory's new program director, I am excited to continue the legacy and spirit of this home's musical history,” said Julia Petersen. “We have a unique opportunity to offer an intimate setting perfectly suited to chamber music — which is the tradition of musical performance built on the close relationship between the music, the performers, and their listeners.”
The venue will be the historic Hamilton House, located at 627 N. Government Way. Built in 1908, the beautifully preserved house offers something increasingly rare in live performance: an intimate setting where audiences can experience professional musicians' artistry without the distance of a large concert hall.
Tonight’s performance begins at 7 p.m. at the Hamilton House. Tickets are $25 and available online at https://cdaconservatory.org/events.
