Glacier soccer closed out the regular season with a statement in the Crosstown rivalry, sweeping Flathead with an 8-1 boys victory and a 10-1 girls win on Oct. 13 at Kidsports.

Daily Inter Lake sports reporter Luke Schmit was there to catch up with the Wolfpack players and coaches after the rivalry matchups. 

Glacier boys striker Brecken Evenson scored four goals, including one of the team's standout performances of the season. He discussed his scoring opportunities, Madrid Stephan's contributions and the team's confidence heading into the playoffs. 

Wolfpack captain Isaac Weaks also reflected on the team's chemistry, individual strengths and what it would take to compete for a state championship. 

On the girls side, Gracie Winkler delivered four goals of her own. She talked about the team's chemistry, the importance of growing together and how Glacier learned to respond to adversity.

First-year head coach Ryan Thompson shared his thoughts on the team's resilience, its potential and Winkler's impact as both a scorer and leader. 

Looking back at the postseason: Both Glacier teams followed the Crosstown sweep with first-round Class AA playoff victories. 

The boys rallied past Missoula Big Sky 3-1, while the girls shut out Helena Capital 4-0. Both advanced to the quarterfinals before their seasons ended in Billings. 

The boys fell 5-4 to Billings West, despite a hat trick from Evenson, while the girls lost 4-1 to Billings Senior.
