Lee D. Broemmeling

July 16, 1945 – Oct. 21, 2026

Lee D. Broemmeling, 81, passed away peacefully at home Oct. 21, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, following a long illness.

Lee was born July 16, 1945, in Colfax, Wash., to Leo and Mary Broemmeling. He grew up alongside his seven brothers and sisters on the family farm in Colton, Wash., where he developed a strong work ethic, a sense of responsibility, and the ability to build, repair, or figure out just about anything.

After graduating from high school, Lee attended Kinmen Business College in Spokane, Wash., and later worked as an accountant for Potlatch. His lifelong love of cars eventually led him to a successful career as a sales manager for several automobile dealerships in California, where he and his family lived for 30 years.

A talented craftsman and artist, Lee enjoyed carpentry, woodworking, and bringing new life to things in need of repair. Throughout his lifetime, he helped build, remodel and renovate numerous homes. He also had a gift for wood sculpture, creating pieces that reflected his creativity and skill. Lee proudly served in the National Guard for seven years.

Fourteen years ago, Lee and his wife, Sue, returned to Idaho to be closer to family.

Lee is survived by Susan (Sue), his beloved wife of 57 years; his daughter, Tracy Begg, and her husband, Andrew; his grandchildren, Sarah and Brandon Begg; and his siblings and their spouses: Janelle (Norb Niehenke), Janice (George Kieren), Ed (Paula), Jerry (Dyan), Eileen (Gene) Gross, Jim (Sherry) and Rick (Andrea). He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and members of Sue's extended family.

Lee will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, remarkable talents, and the many ways he shared his skills with those around him. His memory will live on through his family and the lasting work of his hands.

A memorial mass will be held Monday, Nov. 9, 2026, at 11 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 625 E. Haycraft Avenue, Coeur d'Alene, ID. A reception to follow. Arrangements are provided by Yates Funeral Home. www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
