It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Trisha Lynn Maddy Johnson, age 56, of Spokane Valley, Wash., who left us far too soon on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2026.

She entered the world on March 31, 1970, in Princeton, W.Va., the cherished daughter of Stan and Vicky Maddy. Raised in the close-knit community of Hinton, W.Va., Trisha developed a lifelong bond with the hills and rivers of her home state.

Trisha dedicated her professional life to lifting up others, working for many years as a compassionate Social Worker with troubled youth until her retirement. Her deep empathy for people was matched only by her profound connection to the outdoors. A true spirit of the wilderness, she found immense joy in nature and shared that passion with others as a dedicated wilderness guide. Whether she was navigating a quiet trail or offering a listening ear, Trisha lived her life with a sense of adventure and a deeply serving heart.

She was welcomed into eternity by her grandparents, Irvin Sr. and Marie Maddy and Victor and Matilda Garcia, who preceded her in death.

Left to cherish her memory, besides her loving parents, is her husband, Larry Johnson, and beloved dog Anna of Spokane Valley, Wash. She is also survived by her brother, John Maddy and his wife Maria of Peterstown, W.Va.; her adored nieces, Elena Maddy of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Adelita Maddy of Peterstown, W.Va.; her mother-in-law Joanne Johnson, brother-in-law Mark Johnson and his wife Laura of Spokane Valley, Wash.; her aunt, Jo Honaker of Alderson, W.Va.; her uncles, Sonny Garcia and his wife Norma of Barger Springs, W.Va., and John Garcia and his wife Christy of Lewisburg, W.Va.; and Nick Dimico of New York, N.Y., along with a host of cousins, friends and fellow adventurers.
